The Book: The One[]
The One is a book created by Christian Illes of Rochester, NY. It is set in a different galaxy, known as the Elduan Galaxy.
Description[]
This book takes place on a planet called Sylos. Sylos is the third planet of nine (planets that contain intellectual creatures) in the Elduan Galaxy, a galaxy forged by the Ulgundar. Ancient texts describe the Ulgundar as three, immortal beings which can take the form of any object, or being. The Ulgundar created all of the worlds within the Elduan Galaxy. They are the angels upon which everything is born from. Each galaxy consists of a set number of angels (determined on how many planets the galaxy will have), acting as guardians to ensure the balance of energy. While angels will guard over planets and control the balance within the galaxy, The One does not. The One is not a he or she. It is not an angel, it is not a god, and it is not something any person or creature can relate to. The One is the ultimate energy source from which we all derive from. It does not have feelings, thoughts, or emotions. It does not feel pain, greed, or empathy. It is however, the reason that there is life, because The One is the purest form of life. The One is a self-generating, self-recycling energy source. It forms angels and galaxies, which are derivatives of itself; just different forms of energy. As angels form planets and creatures/beings, the angels are forming derivatives of themselves, which is in turn a derivative of The One. When a person dies, they do not go to heaven. Their energy is recycled in the galaxy in which they died. When planets are destroyed, their energy becomes the building blocks for new planets. As galaxies collapse, new ones are formed in their place. The One cannot be killed or destroyed, it can only exist. It is not something you can see because The One is everything you know. Everything in existence is made up of The One, so there for everything you know is a derivative of The One. Without its existence, there is no existence to anything. The One is made up of light and dark energy, both in equal flow to balance the magnificent power of the universe.
Where the Ulgundar are immortal entities of The One, the planet Sylos is a living entity of the Ulgundar. It is a living, mortal entity that requires the balance of energy to maintain its life. Without this balance, the planet will die. Planets can die in three ways. They can succumb to dark energy and become a barren planet of ruins, uninhabitable for almost all forms of life. They can explode, sending fragments of the planet throughout the galaxy and leaving a gaseous cloud of dark energy of the former planet. Or they can implode, causing a black hole which will slowly swallow the galaxy and destroy all entities of it, including the angels who look over it. No one knows exactly how a planet will die, so there is always a 33% chance that a galaxy will be destroyed with the death of a planet.
When a planet is first formed, the most energy is exerted into its creation and the creation of things. Once life has been established, the angels of the galaxy are then left up to a couple of options on how they wish to maintain balance within their planets. Some angels use a divine ruling as the platform for balance and control, while others forge divine objects or places in order for the beings on the planet to control. In the case of the Ulgundar and more specifically Sylos, the angels decided to leave balance in the control of their creations. They rely on the support and allegiance of wizards to maintain the balance of the worlds. To put it simply, the Ulgundar have a "hands off" approach to issues that arise within the galaxy. They believe that is the duty of their creations to decide their own destinies, whether it be life or death, light energy or dark energy. The book takes place in the year 2023.
